Adiba Zeito is the Founder and President of AICANcer Patient Advocacy Group, a patient-led 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring that AI in oncology is developed with equality, integrity, empathy, and a patient-centered focus. Through AICANcer’s different programs, patient advocates are equipped with the knowledge they need to engage meaningfully in conversations about AI in oncology – bringing informed patient perspectives to the researchers, developers, clinical leaders, and policymakers who are shaping this field. Through AICANcer’s different programs, patient advocates are equipped with the knowledge they need to engage meaningfully in conversations about AI in oncology – bringing informed patient perspectives to the researchers, developers, clinical leaders, and policymakers who are shaping this field. Adiba brings more than two decades of leadership across the tech and startup ecosystems of Stockholm and Silicon Valley. She was 27 when early stage breast cancer entered her life, and 30 when it recurred. In 2011, she initiated and led Innovative Sweden – an international touring exhibition showcasing Swedish innovation – which brought her to San Francisco, where she was subsequently recruited as the youngest CEO in Silicon Valley Forum’s 30-year history. In 2015, while preparing for IVF, a scan revealed that her previously treated breast cancer had metastasized to her bones. She has been in active treatment ever since, now on her eighth line of therapy, with 15 surgeries behind her, and extensive radiation. Despite the early removal of her ovaries and a Stage 4 diagnosis, she became a mother. Thanks to saved embryos and an incredible woman who carried her baby, her son Alex was born. Alex is now 8 and is her primary motivation to keep going. Adiba has been an active patient advocate these past 11 years, serving on the boards of Susan G. Komen SF, METAvivor, and is a member of the MBC Alliance. She has also collaborated with the Swedish Breast Cancer Foundation (Bröstcancerförbundet) and raised significant funds for metastatic breast cancer research on both sides of the Atlantic. She founded AICANcer at the intersection of her combined experience in the tech industry and as a cancer patient, giving her an intimate understanding of both worlds. AICANcer is pan-cancer and global from the start.
