“Your Sin Caused You to Have Cancer” (Mary-Gloria Orji)

ACE Meeting, April 23, 2026, 1:00pm ET, 10:00am PT. Presentation by Mary-Gloria Orji.

The topic is what it is. The stigma we face while going through cancer in my country and how people believe you must have done something wrong to offend God which is why you are being punished.

Mary-Gloria Orji is a passionate cancer advocate, and 2 times breast cancer survivor and the president of the Network of People Impacted by Cancer in Nigeria (NePiCiN). With nearly 2 decades of experience in the hospitality industry, where she rose from Guest Service Agent to Front Office Manager, she has successfully managed marketing and banqueting operations. However, her personal journey as a cancer survivor ignited a deep commitment to advocacy, leading her to dedicate her life to amplifying the voices of cancer patients and survivors in Nigeria. Since 2017, Gloria has actively championed the rights of cancer patients, ensuring they have access to quality care, treatment, and support. She currently leads the Abuja Breast Cancer Support Group (ABC-SG) and represents cancer patients in the National Cancer Control Plan under the Federal Ministry of Health. A sought-after speaker at conferences and policy discussions, she uses her voice to drive change, break barriers, and push for equitable cancer care. Through NePiCiN, she continues to empower survivors, advocate for better healthcare policies, and creates a strong support network for those impacted by cancer in Nigeria.
